Any particular place in India? It's a big country...
Here is a link to a world solar insolation map. (http://islandssolar.com/Merchant2/graphics/site/assistance/insolationmaps.html) Scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page. You can click on a particular location to get a zoomed view. This map is for the worst month of the year (ie. usually winter), and would apply for battery charging where you need to size solar to provide enough energy to keep them charged enough to meet the needed loads. I could not find an annual average insolation map, though the difference for the southern part of India is probably not all that large (near equator).

One thing different in India is that the monsoon season(s) would have a significant effect.
Spent 15 years there on projects and you learn to have great respect for mother nature. Where I was about 250 km north of Bombay the monsoon season started 15 June and ended on 15 September during which time there were many very cloudy days. The definite dates are interesting as if it rained in Surat, Gujarat before 15 June it was pre-monsoon rain and if after 15 September it was post-monsoon, The monsoon has very definite start/stop dates!
Don't ever remember ever getting over a meter of water in 24 hours!
Farther to the south has more cloudy times and some parts have two monsoons.
Winter time is normally very clear and beautiful weather.

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about getting solar power for my home in New Jersey. I was originally thinking about doing a state rebate, which would be about $5,000 off. I also saw this thing in the news about this solar company doing a $6,000 rebate, but it's a private rebate that's not involved with the state government.

Have any of you gotten any of these private rebates? Do you really get your money back, and when will you get it? Are there any other companies in New Jersey that are giving these rebates?
Thanks,
Jenn

Hi Jenn,
I think your query is a little bit off topic for this particular thread. You might do better (if you haven't already done so) if you started a specific topic (but in the solar energy thread) with a title which reflects your query ... eg "Rebates in New Jersey" or similar.
