NEW!

I have officially released my PowerDashboard software for monitoring/logging on the Xantrex XW series inverter systems. Details and ordering information can be found at

http://www.briery.com

PowerDashboard software elevates the monitoring/logging capabilities to the next level and provides more features than is currently available in any other software.

There are too many features and functions to list here, but it is developed with most capabilities that users desired; turbine and/or solar installations, email, ftp, graphing, meter readings, logging, configurable warnings, maintenance reminders, weather station interface, etc.

The software is designed for the average consumer in mind, it is a far superior product than the Xantrex XW Config Tool (which is the only other choice). It runs on PC's with Windows 2000, XP or Vista operating system.

One value added service that installers can give their customers, is to monitor their system by email'ing or ftp'ing logs/performance information to them from customer sites, or giving the end user the option of monitoring themselves.

Great work Dan!
The unfortunate truth is that most (if not all) of the hardware companies are not very good at making software. We sell Power-One's inverters, and I cringe every time I see the software that comes with it (it's not even particularly bad, others are much worse). Xantrex should just license the software from you and bundle it with their inverters.

Rob,

Well I had a phone discussion the other day with the XW product manager and I can safely say that Xantrex is not interested in my software.

That is great in a good way as I can take it as far as I want and with what ever feature set that I choose without being dictated to.

I am deep into a remote access portion of the software that will have a remote component using TCP/IP to communicate across the internet, included will be a simple telnet style interface, a 'standard' gui interface and a published UI (with sample code) that others can take and write their own remote access applications from!

I am gearing it towards 2 markets - the home owner that wants to see stuff remotely, and an installer that wants (probably is paid) to monitor client's systems, both immediate runtime as well as downloading log files.

Expect that with just a couple of weeks to a month I'll have that ready. I am interested in getting feedback from you and other installers to see what else they may want, so chime in!
