As long as it can use different fuels without any or only minor modification (as appears to be the case) I think it should be worth keeping an eye one.
When I first read it I saw two stages of compression, and I thought of the compound steam engine.

Only half the size of a conventional engine yet produces 30% more power and uses 10% less fuel. For transportation purposes a double benefit - less weight, more power.
More efficient than a fuel cell at greater than 60% of load capacity.
