I live on an island off the west coast of Scotland. for the past year our electricity supply for the whole island has been supplied by a large hydro system and 2 smaller ones backed up by 4 wind turbines and a bank of photovoltaic cells. Previously to that there was no mains electric and each household had its own diesel generator. We are very happy with our green system. :)
