Hello guys we are experimenting with a cluster of 5 small windgenerator
we want to rectify and then put them in series.
the output of the generator is about 30 volts so we expect to have 150 volts when all are put in series and 2500 watts.

today we build the first two
here a picture of the first part of the experiment

The 5 are spinning
now we wait for wind

Looks great Cor!
I assume this is not the same municipality that forced you to take down the turbines at your business?

One thing I'm curious about: What siting/height rules do people use over there for wind turbines? I mean, over here the minimum is 10 meters above any obstacle in a 100 meter radius (plus a blade length), with an absolute minimum tower height of 18 meters (and that only if you live on the prairie; flat and no tree in sight). I've noticed that small wind turbines in Europe tend to get stuck on very low towers. Often a 10 meter tower seems 'high' as they rarely seem higher than that, often they are substantially lower. I would think that sticks them up in severely turbulent air, killing production, and causing premature wear and tear. For your turbines I notice a row of trees in the background, not too far away. In your case energy production may not be the main reason. I wonder though what, in general, the rational is behind those low wind turbine installations.

We know that the tower is much to low
but most small windmills are build without a permit
And if the windmill is less then 2 meters diameter and the pole is 10 meter
then the chance of getting trouble with the law is mutch lower.

The government in holland does not like small windmills that mutch.

This is also why they claim that small wind does not work
Solar pannels do not work when put in the shade (but thats something they do understand)

Today we have to live with this
but we hope that the government gets a vision.

Cor,

I assume by the photo of the rectifiers that these wind turbines are single phase?

Can you give more information about them?

thanks,

Hello Dan,
you are right this is a single phase generator

rated power 500 w
max power 1000 w
voltage 24 in charging
diameter 2.7 meter
start up 3 ms
rated 7 ms
rpm 600
output single phase AC
output freq. 0~300
Tower 6 meter

To prevent the generator make's more noise as a 3 phase we found
filling the pole with sand will do the job.

kind regards
