hello all,
we are building a water turbine with a propellor
a 2kw hummer windgenerator is fitted on the gearbox

please your opinion ?

we did not get the opertunity to test it jet.

The meaning is to hang it in to the flow on the pier.

Bravo Cor
What kind of current will you have acess to , and what kind of output do you expect? If tidal flow, will power be generated in both directions?

With the relatively short distance between prop and alternator, what will stop any wave action (or boat wakes) from splashing/soaking the alternator?

Good luck.

Ralph

The water level is no problem because we put the generator on a floating board
The river is always going the same direction

Hi cor.
I am interested in seeing your results, because I have done some testing with some smaller propeller type turbines myself.
I have found that water will simply go around the blades, unless the current is very fast.
Looking at your pictures, the blade width may be to small, and they should be almost flat, maybe at 5 to 10 degrees.
I know there is some manufacturers like the aquair that have a product out. They claim their 3 bladed 12.280" diameter propeller will make 100 watts at just over 8 MPH water speed.
Good luck.
Jeff

Hi Cor : Here are some much larger units being placed in the St Lawrence river here in Canada that have very similar blade pitch as yours...Paul:oh:

Hello Jeff and Paul,

nice pictures thanks
the pitch of the blades is calculated by some guy's at the technical university
we do not know at this moment if the concept will work
but theoritical it should work.

25 june the engine will hit the water
we go out with our people to the river and wil do the proof of the pudding

I wil keep you informed true this forum
and thanks for your interest
all input is welcome.

Kind regards

Cor
