Hello all

This seems like the most relevant place for an introduction but apologies if it's not. I'm 20 and from England in the UK. I have just finished college where I have been training as an electrician for the past couple of years.I have a very keen interest in alternative energy though I'll admit now that I have only recently (couple of years) been interested in living a greener lifestyle but to be totally honest, I'm more interested in self sufficiency and living off grid. I hate living in a crowded city, give me some space please!

At the moment I'm still living at home in an urban area but that's to be expected at my age I suppose, one advantage is it gives me plenty of time for research and development of projects for when I do make the move. :D

Unlike probably 99% of the people my age I have a lot of hobbies and skills in a lot of areas, mainly electronics, robotics, carpentry, metalwork, computers and networking plus much more, so I think I'm well suited for self sufficient off grid living. :)

Maybe you should come out to Australia.:laugh:

Plenty of space and lots of sunshine.

Welcome to the board, and hope it's a rewarding place to visit.

As for your skills, you can never tell ahead of time WHAT might be useful. I bought a sewing machine in 1980 just to see how it worked (it was a treadle/electric). And it turned out to be SO useful. I'm still using in 2009. The same one. You can be self-sufficient in things like clothing too. Leatherwork is fascinating fun.

Welcome to Green Power Talk Danny!
Please make yourself at home here. It's intended as a friendly place to hang out and talk about renewable energy, related projects etc. You have the right profession to make a career in RE, if you are interested in that. I predict it's going to have a bright future.
