Ottawa ,Canada. base company Magenn http://www.magenn.com/index.php
has been testing one of thier rotors at the local Sandbanks Provincial park .Knowing the winds that they get out there ,I doubt such a unit would survive very long without issue.

I haven't read or heard anymore about that test, but I'm sure they had good wind that day as usual.

Very interesting idea. I don't know about their claims that such systems will be the future of wind turbines, what do you think? Certainly the potential to have one of these flying wind turbines eliminates the problem of needing space - they would even be viable in an urban setting. At the very least these turbines could be one more option for customers with varying needs.

I wonder how well such turbines scale in a farm scenario or how well they'd fair in a wind storm.

This unit was on TV on Discover channel ...didn't work!
Back to the drawing boards after three design changes

cost proposal is way off by 10x, power produced is off by 1/10x so far
