Has anyone used the Thermo-dynamics collectors? I was looking at the Enerworks panels, but they will only sell complete systems that include their pumping station.

My tentative SDHW system includes:

1) 1 Thermodynamics G32-SP collector
2) Solar Wand heat exchanger from Butler Sun Solutions
3) Grundfos pump UPS 15-42F
4) Radiant Extrol #15 expansion tank
5) 2nd hot water tank (standard glass lined)
6) Controller: haven't decided yet

In order to keep things affordable, I won't be purchasing a pump station from the collector manufacturer. I think I should be able to save a substantial amount by purchasing the individual components from the plumbing wholesaler.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Shawn.

Shawn,

Thermo-Dynamics collectors work just fine. You'll read all sorts of hype and articles that will state one collector is more efficient than another collector, but in the end unless you have ideal laboratory conditions and a laser thermometer, the difference is minimal in collector performance. Thermo-Dynamics will also sell you any component by itself. Enerworks doesn't follow this practice as they want their complete systems to be sold. In addition, you have only a few choices for mounting an Enerwoks system, but the Thermo-Dynamics collectors offer much more variety in mounting conditions.

I hope this helps...:)

Cheers,

Shawn

Shawn,

Thanks for the info. I've located a nearby source of used Thermo-Dynamics panels so I'll pick one up in the new year. The design of my system has changed a bit. Will be going with a Resol pump station/controller with an external heat exchanger. I've also decided to go with a single tank system.

Thermodynamics collectors are the best compared to Enerworks panels. Thermodynamics will sell you any component by itself and also provides variety in mounting conditions.
