I just got a JAVA update with a link to their free open source "Office Suite":

For those who might not have a recent version of Excel or WORD, this might be a great substitute, especially if they provide continual updates.
(I need to see if all my fancy functions in Excel are recognized and transfer properly)
I was more interested in their "Draw" module, as I have had little luck in finding a simple drawing program and didn't want to do everything in 3d!
I opened it and it looks quite simple, yet powerfull for making sketches, etc
Give it a try and some feedback here.
