Does anyone know of any non-penetrating mounting systems for non-flat roofs?
I read somewhere within the last year about someone inventing it, but I can't seem to find any useful information.

Hi Renic: What was it mounting to if it did not penetrate for a secure mount to the roof??? Was it Hooking up to straps under the shingles??? Paul:)

No idea...
If i were to design such a thing, I would probably straddle the roof and then use weight on each side, similar to a ballast mount.
I just hope they weren't using krazy glue :)

Greetings Renic
This month's issue of Homepower magazine has a section on solar racking.
Perhaps the non-penetrating model you saw was this UniRac product that clamps to standing seam steel roofing?

Mark

Thinking this through a bit, it would seem that ballast is not really needed. If the top side of the mount 'wraps' around and down just a little to the other side of the roof (with padded feet), and there is a way to clamp the bottom side to something, the mount would stay in place (and hug the roof). Maybe by extending the down side of the mount sideways, and attaching brackets to the side of the house (instead of going down)? I can see some definite possibilities here...
