With the new year just around the corner, and the first meeting still fresh in mind (http://www.greenpowertalk.org/showthread.php?t=2854), it's never too early to start planning for our second Annual International Member RE Tour (and meeting, and swap-meet etc.). Interest has been expressed to let this coincide, both in location and date, with the North American World Wind Energy Conference (http://www.greenpowertalk.org/showthread.php?t=4051). This conference is taking place in Kingston, Ontario (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=kingston,+ontario&ie=UTF8&z=11&om=1) (that's in Canada, close to the US border), June 24 through June 26, 2008. So our event does not interfere with the conference, it would probably be best to schedule it just before, ie. on the 23rd of June 2008, or possibly the day before if a weekend (Sunday) is more desirable.
Please mark your agendas, this is an event you don't want to miss! This is also a call to members that are from the Kingston area, and that would be able to host the event and/or put together a tour of RE projects in the area. Suggestions for places to visit are welcome too. Anything that will help make this event one to remember!

I'll be the first to respond, since I now have something to say here
Is it just me is or is the admission ticket for one day @$350 a bit excessive (is that USD$ or Can$ ??)??
bring the wife and kids and you could instead opt to practically pay for a turbine!
maybe we won't have to coordinate the schedule for the 2nd Annual after all??

Gentlemen,
I would also not likely be interested in $350 for a conference observation, unless I knew more about what to expect. I assume a bunch of wind energy industry professionals in a lecture theatre venue discussing standards and new strategies? The web site is not very informative about venue or exhibition details.
Other than that, I'm up for a 2nd Annual International GPT RE Tour. Sounds like someone needs to take the bull by the horns around the Kingston area and arrange some field visits.

Mark

Here's a thought.
I have a large piece of property in Flinton Ont (hwy#7 and #41-#37) with about 20 acres of good camping. There is my little off grid cabin, a spare 12' X 8' bunkie, and a spare 16' trailer, a small 8' X 24' workshop, and will be building a nice "Green"-comfort station this summer.
I as thinking a weekend long, with possibly a "build your own" wind turbine work shop, as I have all the necessary components and equipment to build them (either the one's like otherpower or my own design) and Rob Beckers has offered to teach the theory.
The only weekend I have available would be August the 16-17.
Let me know what you think!

Hi Jeff,
The weekend looks good. My place in Combermere (hwy 62) is about 80km north of your place. I could put up some overflow at my place with lots of camping space and a log home with 9 beds, and a 20' x 20' bunkie.
