You have found a really interesting thread and would like to keep up with new posts to it. However you don't want to check multiple times a day just to find out if someone has posted something new.

The forum has a tool that helps make this easy; At the top of the list of forum postings is a toolbar. One of entries in there is "Thread Tools". Click it, and you will see a drop-down list. Select the "Subscribe to this thread" option and the forum will automagically send you an E-mail every time someone posts a new message to the thread.

In the "User CP" menu there is another option that does something similar; The "Default Thread Subscription Mode" option will let you automatically subscribe to threads you start. Very convenient!

How easy can life get...
Enjoy, and keep those posts coming!

Thanks for that Rob.

Because I LIKE to wander through all the different boards I'm akin to, I don't necessarily need the automagic notifications, but just to compare it to other boards (and for general info) how long 'twixt a post going up and the notification email going out? (On another board I work this can take up to 12 hours.)

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

This should be instantaneous. There can be a delay on the recipient's side, because some mail servers will queue mail for a while before passing it on to the proper mailbox. Of course, all this assumes you have a working E-mail address set up in your user profile (http://www.greenpowertalk.org/usercp.php) (and there are no anti-spam mechanisms on your side blocking these messages). I know for a fact that there are dozens of members of this forum that do not have a working E-mail address listed here...
