Modular construction is becoming an interesting option for projects where traditional construction can be difficult or time-consuming. This is especially relevant for remote construction, mining, and renewable energy projects where buildings may need to be delivered and installed with limited local infrastructure.

One advantage of modular building systems is that many components can be prepared in a controlled manufacturing environment before being transported to the project site. This can help reduce some of the work that would otherwise need to be completed on site.

Another consideration is the type of facilities required. Remote projects may need accommodation, offices, welfare areas, sanitation facilities and other support buildings in addition to the main project infrastructure.

I'm interested in hearing from others who have worked with modular or prefabricated building systems. What building materials or design approaches have you found most practical for remote projects?

For anyone researching the topic, I also found this overview of modular facilities for renewable energy projects useful.
