Teck question regarding the operation of this inverter.(EVO-4020)
I purchased it along with all the other fixings for solar power but am just now getting to install/set it up. It is at a off grid cottage and I have been powering my electrical panel with a generator.
I have now mounted the inverter and conected my generator leads to 7, 8, and 9 on the terminal block and out feed breaker panel leads to 10, 11, and 12.
There is nothing else conected to the inverter and I have not attempted to do any setup beyond those conections.
I have power comming in from the generator but nothing passing through to the breaker panel out leads. The on button does nothing.
Am I correct in assuming I need additional equipment attached (controller, batteries, remote EVO-RC) and need to do some form of programing before power will pass through.

Hi Greg,

You'll need batteries connected to the inverter as a minimal setup. Batteries are needed to power the 'brain' of the inverter, so it can detect your generator when it's running, and energize the contactor that will switch it to the AC output of the inverter. Without DC power the inverter can't do any of this.

The controller/remote is needed if you want change the default settings (and generally you want to tune at least the battery charge parameters, so Samlex's remote is highly advisable). The default behaviour should be to switch to generator though when it sees Voltage on that side. But as mentioned, the inverter needs DC to do that.

Cheers,

Thanks Rob, that is confirmation of what I suspected. I will be installing the batteries and remote soon and will then likley be back with more questions once the panels are connected.
I think at this point I have everything as it should be but we will see. Once my batteries are in place and panels connected I will start at the panel end and throw the breakers one at atime working toward the cottage panel.
