I've recently purchased a solar fridge and plan to run it directly from my MPPT controller at 24 vdc to the fridge, I've got about a 70 foot run. I keep reading that it's better to use stranded copper wire and then I read about using solid copper wire, totally confused.
I understand that the stranded wire is better for bending but the wire will not be subject to any bending once installed.

as long as square centimeter is sufficient, makes no difference... only stranded wire as you said, is easier to work with

I don't think you can run directly from your mppt controller, but must run from your battery which is also connected to the controller. The battery will provide a sustained voltage whereas the controller will fluctuate with available solar.

I had never thought of that. I've been reading and most say powering from the charge controller is using power from the battery bank and not the solar panels. the only drawback it seems is the maximum output of the cc in dc amps, also it may shut down the output if the batteries go below low voltage set point, to protect the batteries.
Still new to all of this but willing to learn from all of you.
tks

I suppose if your fridge is connected to the same terminals as the battery on the CC then it would work, but will the terminal connections on the CC hold (large enough) both sets of wires. Easier and safer to have the fridge connected to the batteries with a fuse or circuit breaker for on/off functions.

I found the terminal connections on my Midnite solar cc were undersized for my solar input connections. It took some real twisting with pliers to get the wire small enough to fit, so no way any other wire (like a dc fridge) would fit in as well.

My SRNE 4860 cc has dc output connectors which are vacant right now. But as I spoke to quite a few other people as well, most said like you, to eliminate the middle man so to speak.
I will probably go directly to the battery terminals.
thanks to all.
