Is it possible to get enough solar energy to power an electric motor houseboat?

I suppose that would depend upon how often and how far you move the houseboat. If you didn't do it too often perhaps you could have any batteries mounted other than on the structure itself, say another barge alongside, or on the river bank. But for normal living purposes, and using ideas such as bottled gas for cooking and some heating, I think it would certainly be possible.
In view of the changing climate with attendant sea level rise, houseboats may be the way to go in the short-medium term. Perhaps you could combine your ideas and make a houseboat from old shipping containers, if you didn't wish to move them too often using solar power.

Yes, it is possible that solar system with modern efficiency may not be enough for full functioning of a floating house with electric motor.
