I have added a fixed array to my off grid system. I found last summer that the 1350 W original array would not reach float by the end of the day. Our consumption has increased with a new fridge and maybe the production reduced with age. I added 8 panels-about 2120 Watts. They are controlled with a midnite Classic 200. 4x2 sets of panels on fab rac ground mounted racking. It will be interesting to compare the tracking array with the fixed array. On a full sun day I will see what each controller says. The tracking array is 11 years old with an outback MX60. Generally our consumption is between 6 and 8 kW per day. There is a Windspot 3.5 as well to see us through the dull winter period from October to March.

Hi Peter! Back from the boat?
I'm curious how the WindSpot is holding up. If I recall you did quite a bit of work on it (bearings and such). Has it been working OK since?

Hi Rob-the ships are still tied up until the end of the month or so. The Windspot is still making power. I will have to take it down soon to look at the hub and blades. It has been working well since the repair but it is not as well balanced as it should be. The maximum power in high winds is still around 3.5kW. When it broke it was running up to 5 KW or more.

Hi Captain Peter
3.5 working better than 5 in pieces I suppose?

Can your balance be adjusted by grinding off blade length or adding/epoxying on little weights?
