Hi , I'm planning to set solar panels for my house in Barrie. I wanted to reduce my biils so most effective and convenient source of power in the long run would be solar power. I have decided to use solar power as an extra source of power along with the regular power supply. Now the point is that, do I need to change my wiring for using solar electricity. Mine is a quite old system dated around late 70's. I have been looking out for a licensed plumber and came to know that Shock Doctor in Barrie is a good option. I think they are quite pricey but not sure. Before I contact them are there any good ones that you are quite familiar with.

Might better look under "Electricians" in the yellow pages.

Mojo, the only type of solar that will save some money at this time is Ontario's MicroFIT program. An off-grid solar PV system will produce much more expensive electricity than you're using now. Net-metering is another option, it saves money in the long run, but we're talking about a very long run..

Would be interesting to see a plumber install solar PV modules!
