View Full Version : inverter replacement?

Hi

My 11year old Xantrex SW4048 inverter has started throwing "internal relay fault" codes and shutting down. A swat on the housing will "clear" the fault, reset the on off switch and continue on...for how long? A sticky relay on the dc side must be the cause. It only happens when not connected to AC sources...just inverting, so far.

I've been web shopping today and have narrowed down the field of candidates for replacement to 2 (unless something better gets thrown out here).

Outback VFXR 3648A, just about a straight replacment for 120vac.

Magnum MS-PAE4448, takes me into the 120/240 split phase realm and all the extra work that will require.

Any comments on Schnieder equipment in the 4kw range?

Any comments or suggestions on pulling the cover and trying to find the faulting culprit?

Thanks

Ralph

I'm not sure how these are for you but I got one about 2 months ago and it is working OK so far. I am not off grid so take that for what it's worth. Just throwing another option out there.
