Hi all,

I am new here and frankly never thought about green anything until I recently purchased a property with a live year around stream on it. Then I got to thinking about Hydro power because the power company will only run 90' of power cable and I need about 600' to 800' to get back where I am building two houses.

My stream at minimum will be over 400' in length with a drop of 26' and a average size of 12" wide by 3" deep. What given the modest size of my stream do you think would be possible for me to do with it "if anything at all"? Or am I just wasting my time?

Thank you,

Mark

I was into this at one point just as an interesting idea but I had no hydro power available to me.
One website I checked calculated a possible 6kWh/day. There is still some missing information like flow rate. This is based on a 4" pipe and 100 GPM flow.
If your stream is actually 12"x3" and can move water 50' in a minute then I believe this is about 100GPM.
This is just a really rough guestimate.
