It was revealed earlier this year that $250,000,000 had been "wasted" trying to refurbish an aging fossil fueled power generating facility.

Actually, I'm not too surprised there's a push to keep coal fired plants going: Australia has huge coal reserves, and if memory serves, the richest woman in Australia is the owner of a whole slew of those mines. That kind of money buys a lot of friendly politicians!
