I haven't seen any discussion of this gem that's buried in a recent Ontario Ministry of Energy document titled 'Conservation First: A Renewed Vision for Energy Conservation in Ontario (http://www.energy.gov.on.ca/en/conservation-first/)' that seems to have been released on July 16th... they're talking about possibly converting microFIT into a net-metering system. Its about half way down the page... search for 'net' and the first hit will get you there.
I wonder if they're going to try to legislate themselves out of all those 20-year contracts they signed?

What, do they think this is Spain?

The situation in Ontario is very different from that in Spain, and I do not see any real chance of the MicroFIT/FIT contracts being breached. Remember that these are in essence contracts with the Ontario government; if they default on those, there will be far bigger problems than just MicroFIT/FIT.
I do agree that the days of the FIT-type programs are numbered. Pricing is such that we are just about at grid-parity, and the future will be in net-metering and off-grid systems. What I would like to see is some solar PV (or other renewables) on every house, especially new houses. It should become part of the building code.
That does not mean any chance to the existing FIT and MicroFIT contracts though.
