Hi All.
I am new to this forum and would like to become part of an online community that shares knowledge and information.
I have a grid-tied system on my city home and and off-grid setup on my shed. I would like to know about the latest trends in solar power and the associated equipment including battery technology.
Cheers

Hi Jon,
Welcome to the community. I'm up in Lesmurdie, where the temp is presently 42.6, and my rooftop system is chugging away, keeping my little house cool. (1600 watts of panel, the cooler draws 1120 watts - luv it)http://www.greenpowertalk.org/images/icons/icon10.gif
If you're considering travelling east drop round and see my set up. You may also wish to look at this youtube video
It shows I've also got two separate solar systems, one on-grid, the other independent.

Well Joe, your temperature is almost as hot as my hot water heater delivers, and my outdoor temp is as cold as your freezer interior (-11c).

Jon, welcome to Green Power Talk!
-26C outside last night (currently -17C). Heating is a bigger issue than cooling over here. I just returned from a car trip to southern Florida, it was +28C there (mid-winter mind you). Quite the temperature gradient...
Joe, what cooler do you use? If memory serves me it's a type of swamp-cooler (evaporative cooler), right? 1.1kW is remarkably frugal for cooling. I bet my blower motor of the furnace/air-conditioner uses more than that.
