hi all. i was using a usb to rs 485 with 3 wires connected to my 6kw eurora . but my laptop blow up and i lost every thing . i have a new laptop now with windows 7 64 bit. what do i have to download to get back into my inverter. i have the disk that came with inverter. thanks shaun

Sorry to hear about your laptop! Next time keep the fireworks away from it... :blink1:

You can download the disk with the AuroraInstaller software from our business Web site, http://www.solacity.com/PowerOneWind.htm, scroll down to the bottom. I'm assuming that's what you're looking for?

Since you mention you have an RS485-to-USB interface you should be OK (after installing the drivers for that interface). From what I've heard the USB drivers that come with the AuroraInstaller software will not work on 64-bit Windows 7, but you would not need that in your case, since you have an RS485 interface.

Please post back how it works out. I'd like to hear if there are issues regarding 64-bit W7.

hi rob had a little mess about today. i downloaded driver that came with rs 485 from ftdi. with a bit of trouble got aurora installer and aurora communicator onto laptop . the installer works fine all am realy worried about to mess around with the curve. but could not get communicator to work at start says com 1 does not exsits then i change to com 3 and still does not work . installer working fine on com 3 . any ideas thanks sb

In Win7, try running AuroraCommunicator in 'compatibility mode'. This will make Windows emulate an earlier version, possibly that will solve it.

Strange though that AuroraInstaller works. Both should be using the same mechanism to detect COM ports.

hi rob will have to get the wife to help with that . on my old laptop with w7 never got communicator to work either . could be doing sum thing wrong
