After being pounded heavily for NOT being very green himself and his $1000/month electric bill Al Gore Gets Greener

Former vice president Al Gore, who has of late become a leading voice confronting global warming, had received the nod from his community officials to install a planned 33 solar panels on his property. A spokeswoman for Gore told the Associated Press that the Gores’ 70-year-old home in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville will be upgraded with a new furnace, windows, solar vents and radiant in-floor heating.:)

Whilst I applaud anything done by a public figure to further the cause of the environment, I have to slightly misquote Kermit the Frog in this caveat.

"It isn't easy being green, but it is easy to be seem to be green".

Seems like someone is actually prepared to put his money where his mouth is. Wish some of our politicians would get the message.

Interesting happening a couple of days ago.

On about 23 April our Prime Monster - er, Minister

Mr Howard says climate change is not the overriding moral challenge facing Australians today.

In the State of Queensland however, a weekly poll of 1800 people indicated that 90% of the people polled believed the opposite.

Perhaps the very loud popping sound one might hear will be many heads being pulled from backsides.

One can but hope.

Very displeased to see this in my "News In" tray tonight.

Angry residents in the northern Victorian town of Euroa are demanding answers, after their water supply ran out.

For more than three hours, the entire town was left without a drop, forcing the hospital, schools and businesses onto bottled supplies.

Already at stage 4 restrictions, the 3000 residents of Euroa did not think it could get any worse. But this morning, it did.

The city was bone dry for hours, with no flushing toilets or running taps.

The hospital was forced to use bottled water to wash its 81 patients.

"I have worked in health care for 30 years and never been in this situation where I have run out of water," Euroa Health Chief Officer Kym Durance said.

The high school considered sending all 380 students home.

"It's the first time we have ever had a water situation like this," Acting Principal Mark Radford said.

Business owners were furious.

A busy truck stop was unable to wash dishes or fill the urns during the morning rush.

"They said the situation would never get this bad," caf owner Chrissy Hobbs said.

"This is ridiculous. This is a small town that has run out of water and they're saying 'yes, it will be rectified'."

Goulburn Valley Water has blamed the emergency on a miscommunication with its water carters.

"We're putting it down to human error at this stage," Allen Gale of Goulburn Valley Water said.

"We have to make sure our systems are in place that we don't get that human error again."

For the last eight weeks, Euroa has been relying on supplies from five trucks continuously delivering supplies from Seymour.

It was expected the town's main tank would return to full capacity by late tonight.

Victoria's Water Minister John Thwaites said it should never have happened.

"There was a problem with the trucking," Mr Thwaites said. "Certainly, I don't believe that is satisfactory."

And here's me thinking that Australia was a "First World Country".

Just shows how one can be mistaken.

Don't you think its kinda funny that people bring up his power bill when has gone on tour raising environmental awareness? People made such a fuss, but surely during any given day of work as an environmentalist he reached enough people to offset his entire life many times over again. That said, I'm surprised he didn't see the smear campaign a mile away, I'm glad he finally caught up.

I suppose that's a very fair request to make of him, regardless of his overall efficiency.

Sorry for going after the old posts, I'm new to this forum and I just want to reply to so many things haha

Do you follow any of his recent activities? I was just reading his website and it looks like he's still defending the "hockey stick graph."
