3KW Hummer in Australia

Hi. I am Peter Herklots. I am a retired Civil Engineer and farmer living in North NSW Australia.

In early 2010 I purchased a Hummer 3kw wind turbine direct from the manufacturers in China. It was very reasonably priced and quickly dispatched well packed.

As I have a good supply of farm equipment including an old excavator I was able to erect the tower myself with assistance from my wife.

There were many problems with red tape and it was not before May 2011 that the turbine was finally connected to the grid. Since that date there has been unusually little wind so it has yet to be put through its paces.

Of course I have had some problems. The controller was damaged during shipment. This small case in a shipment of much bigger cases seems to have got dropped and dislodged and damaged the Siemens CPU, which had to be replaced. After much delay the insurance company declined to pay for the replacement.

I have still to tweak the V/W settings in the inveter for optimum performance and minimum noise. I await some decent wind to accomplish this.

I am keen to contact other 3kw Hummer owners to discuss problems.

I'm sorry for controller damage by shipping, but Hummer wind generator are easily over speed if the wind resource is abundant. Sorry about the damaged packaging. It's a roll of the dice to purchase from Chinese manufacturing, but is almost always worth the price savings. Hummer is known for having good customer service... but I would be expecting a grueling effort for the replacement. Sorry, about your luck. Hope all ends well. Hummer products are very nice when running.
