Hi everyone

I have had a system now for a few years & have been running it from 4 x fork lift truck batteries. I have recently purchased 12 x 2v deepcharge batteries. I have an outback inverter/charger.

My question is when I swap the batteries over do I need to reconfigure the set up of the Inverter/charger? I did not install the system myself so my knowledge is limited but I am thinking that the new 2v batteries can take a quicker, more powerful charge from the generator & if so then the charger needs to let it know?

Many Thanks

Hi Burt
If you have a Mate then you can re-program your Outback inverter...if not, you'll have to find one (begged, borrowed or stealed) to change parameters. Also, you'll probably need to do that after you disconnect the forklift batteries and add the r/e batteries.

Always good to have a Mate with OUtback stuff. Many installs are done, set up and left to the owner without the ability to change any inverter/charger parameters (your case?).

The new batteries should have owner's literature/manuals with them. If not, the 20 hour rate divided by 10 for the C10 charging rate. That's the maximum rate you should be charging from any and all sources at a time. If the 20 hr rate is 820ah (mine are) the C10 rate is 82amps DC.

I don't know if there's non-volatile memory in the Outback inverters, but there isn't on my Xantrex. Battery disconnect means re-program, but with Xantrex it's all in the buttons. If Outback has programming held for a short time you're ok, but a Mate is a must or all you get will be factory defaults.
