hi,can any one tell me if there is a better way to put a break on my wind turbine
pma simply by shorting the three conductors is fine in 20mph but it takes off in 25plus
winds. is this a normal problem for small scale wind turbines using a missouri wind and solar pma 1000w with falcon blades. living on the west coast of ireland had 52mph
winds this week and its not windy season yet. any idears

thanks ian

If you want to brake the turbine do you want it to brake permanent ?

if you want this then it is easy to put a fence lock on the tail
at the moment the max tail yaw is reached it will lock it self and stay this way
now the turbine will not face wind again

just make a small rope on the lock and you can pull to release
then the tail will come in the straight position again and the turbine can work.

easy and cost nothing

kind regards

Cor,
That is an excellent idea, for its simplicity alone. Have you seen this done in practice?
