Ok is possible to some how use a arora inverter in a hybrid setup solar and wind I currently have a 4.2 wind arora and would love to install some solar and run it in with the turbine . I bought the inverter on the big side so I have some room to expand any ideas I know it isnt made for it but is it possible Im sure this is a question for Rob .

Thanks Jarrod

Jerrod,

From what I believe you purchased the WIND version of the Aurora. There are 2 versions SOLAR and WIND and are basically not interchangeable, meaning that the SOLAR inverter MPPT scheme is not programable to match your wind turbine. And the WIND version - well has to be programmed.

I'm sure that Rob will chime in here and fill in the details, but I've had this conversation with him before...

I think that the only solution to you adding solar is to use another inverter, whether it be an Aurora or other manufacturer.

It would be nice if it could work even if it wasnt crazy efficient with mppt.

Running both solar and wind on the same inverter is not possible as far as I know. It should be possible to run PV on an Aurora wind inverter, though not efficiently, by programming an "MPPT curve" that corresponds to the array voltages/power levels. I've not tried this, though as far as I can see this should work. It won't do actual PV MPPT though, so it won't be very efficient.
