View Full Version : Looking for graphics art

As you can probably tell from the lack of graphics on GPT I'm not much of an artist. If there's anyone out who's good at graphics design (and photoshop/Paintshop) and willing to spend the time, I would be very interested in artwork.
What's needed is something to replace the GTP logo at the top of every page. I like the 3D text I created, but it could need a nicely blended background with a wind turbine, solar panels, and possibly an earthship. Something along those lines. It has to be low-bandwidth and look good! (Yeah, nobody said it would be easy).
Then there's the overall theme. I tried to give it a greenish tint (for obvious reasons) while still keeping it easy to read, easy on the eyes, and looking good. I'm sure it can be improved. Same goes for the small graphics and glyphs that are used all around the forums. I'm not looking for something flashy, just something that 'works', shows a sense of 'cohesion', and again is low bandwidth.
That's about it. If you feel this is your calling please get in touch. You would have my gratitude, as well as that of every GTP forum user I'm sure.

I dabble a bit in 3d modeling and animation. I'm not that great, but you can see some of my stuff at:

That's not my best stuff, I need to update that page, but if you have any specific ideas, let me know and I'll take a crak at it.

Hi James,
Thanks for the offer!
I see you're in NC. Before moving to Canada I spent 12 years in Durham...
What I'm looking for is not so much 3D artwork. I just mentioned that the title text at the top of every page is 3D text. It's something I cobbled together rather quickly in Jasc Paint Shop. I actually really like the way it came out, but it's a bit sparse. Blending in some background images of RE related 'things' would spruce it up. I'm thinking off faded (ie. partially transparent) images of wind turbines, solar panels etc. Then again, as I said, I'm no graphics talent so someone in the biz would probably know much better. The resulting image needs to be fairly small, bandwidth is always an issue.
That's one aspect of it. Improving the color scheme of the forum, possibly the glyphs that are used, is also a possibility. Personally I think it doesn't look half bad, but who knows what a pro can do.
Hope this explained it a bit.

Now that we have many more members, and hopefully some with more graphics talents than me (an easy one to do), I would like to renew my call for better forum graphics. In particular, I would like to spruce up the forum main page. The title bar at the top could use some nice background graphics to emphasize what this forum is about. Unfortunately my talents, while many ;), do not extend to graphics. If you feel up to the challenge, keep in mind that graphics need to be low bandwidth.
So, once again, if you happen to be a graphics Pro with spare time on his/her hands please let me know. We'll even double the pay! (2 x $0 = ehhh... $0)

A quick logo for you
PDF (entirely vector based) versions are attached, but the PNG is nicely compressed (and has a matte to match the current page background) - if you would like to replace your current page header.

Hi Renic,
Thank you for your effort! It certainly is appreciated.
To tell the truth, I rather like the existing (title) letters. Sort of has a 'green' jungle feel to it, I wasn't planning on replacing those. What I was looking for is something that embeds this with some nice background images of renewable energy stuff (wind/solar etc.), and then in turn blends that into the overall green background of the forum.
